Internet safety is very important, especially when talking about websites that offer porn content. People often think that these websites can contain malware or content that can affect the devices on which they navigate.

That is definitely true, but only in a few small proportions. In the past, websites were able to infect the devices from which they were accessed without the user being able to notice.

This thing changed as technology evolved. However, there still are a few communities of hackers who handle these kind of things. Technologies become more and more secure regarding internet browsing – a favorable thing for every online user.

Porn sites security: What porn sites are safe?

Porn sites have always been a taboo subject for the society. There still are people who think that you can get viruses while browsing them. The administrators of these porn websites have acknowledged the fact that they have to conform with the newest technologies and offer users a great experience.

It is hard to believe, but the porn field is always the first to adapt to new technologies and trends. For example, the first html video player was first used on a pornographic website long before YouTube or Vimeo adopted this technology.

Back to the security on porn websites and, generally, on the internet. This subject is a bit delicate and often subjective, but in this article we will try to draw a few clear directions about internet and porn websites security. Down below we will present 3 important steps to make in order to check the security offered by a website.

Let’s start with a first visual check! Everyone knows that suspicious websites look suspicious, but that’s not always an exclusion criteria.

We have to go forward and check the security of the data that passes through the website. In order to check that out you first need a modern browser like Chrome, Firefox or Edge, for example. They can show you whether the connection you are browsing is secure or not. What is a secure connection?

Well, it represents a connection through which all the data sent are encrypted and decrypted by a certain system without other people -for example website administrators or certain hackers- being able to interpret.

What is a SSL?

The SSL represents a secure protocol through which the data is encrypted and sent further to the server in a format that can’t be interpreted by people. Those who have access to the website and, also, possible hackers won’t be able to see the data that is secured through a SSL protocol.

We think that this is an innovation in the online environment. It offers us more security regarding personal data, emails, passwords and other sensitive data which can still be intercepted by non secure websites. So, be cautious!

SSL certificates make this encryption which represents the key to the success of the internet security. Google, together with the other search engines, recommend using SSL certificates. If you want to find more about SSL certificates, I pasted a link down below to a video which explains exactly how they work.

How can we tell if a website is secure or not?

Modern browsers like Chrome, Mozilla or Edge can show you whether a connection is secure or not. All you have to do is check the address bar and click on the lock found in the left corner.

If the prefix of the website starts with https and the left lock is green, that means that the website is secured and you can browse it safely. If the website prefix is http without the “s” and the left lock is red, it means that the website is not entirely safe for navigation.

However, there are websites which are safe, but who don’t have SSL certificates and separating them from the safe ones is pretty difficult. Below I’ve attached 2 screenshots which show you the visual differences between a secured and an unsecured website. We’ve blurred the title and the link to the website so that we don’t start any controversies.

Online checks

The second step to verifying a porn site is by checking it on other websites. Google is one of the main platforms in which you can check the security of a website. That is why Google built a platform where you can check the security of a website.

It is called Transparency Report. Access Google’s Transparency Report and check the porn websites you browse.

VirusTotal is another platform which helps you check the security of other websites. It shows you whether the website you’re browsing is loaded with malware or other software that can affect your device. Down below there’s a link where you can check the websites. Virustotal Checker

Use an antivirus

The third step in verifying the security of internet websites is to use an antivirus. In situation that you’re using a new generation Windows, it should have an antivirus system integrated within.

If you’re using an older generation Windows system, we recommend that you download an antivirus that can also detect malware while browsing.

If you’re trying to download something from the internet, the antivirus will let you know if some files are corrupt. One free solution for this problem is Karspersky.
